Read it properly

What this forecast does not tell you

A snow report is easy to over-read. Three limits, stated plainly, because a forecast quoted without them is worse than no forecast.

It is a model, not a measurement

These numbers are what a weather model expects to fall. They are not a reading of the snow lying on the pistes, and they say nothing about which lifts are turning or which runs are open. For that, ask the resort operator on the day.

It is not an avalanche bulletin

Nothing on this page is a judgement about conditions away from the marked pistes. Decisions about off-piste terrain belong with a qualified local guide and the official avalanche information for that day, never with a seven day forecast.

It is one point at one altitude

Every figure here is for a single model grid cell at 2,158 metres. A ski area covers a range of altitudes and aspects and conditions across it are never uniform, so read this as the shape of the week rather than as a report from any one slope.

Planning

How to use a snow forecast when you are booking

Most people find a page like this while deciding whether to go, which is the one job a seven day forecast cannot do.

A trip is booked further out than any forecast reaches, so the useful question is not what falls this week but how the month behaves. The far end of a seven day forecast also moves a great deal more than the near end, so treat days six and seven as a direction rather than a plan.

Choose the month first. When to ski Gudauri, month by month sets out what each part of the season trades away, which is the decision that actually shapes your week. Then use this page in the days before you travel, for packing and for the drive rather than for the booking itself.

The drive matters here more than at most resorts. Gudauri sits on the Georgian Military Highway, about 2.5 hours from Tbilisi, and winter weather is part of that journey rather than a footnote to it. Getting from Tbilisi to Gudauri in winter covers how people make it. Altimera does not operate or arrange transport, so any transfer is booked directly with an operator.

Where Altimera is when the snow arrives

Altimera Collection manages and lets eleven studio apartments in New Gudauri. All eleven are ski-in / ski-out and sit a 3.5 minute walk from the gondola, away from the resort nightlife, about 2.5 hours from Tbilisi on the Georgian Military Highway. The apartments are let nightly, or for a full ski season running 15 December to 15 April.
